Isabelle Legeron is France’s only female Master of Wine, the leading advocate for the natural wine movement, and the driving force behind Raw Wine – the UK’s biggest fair for natural, organic and biodynamic wine with satellite events now in New York, Los Angeles, and Berlin. Welcome to the seventh episode of my tikichris Talks podcast. This one features an interview with Metaxa Managing Director Stephanie Ancel and Metaxa Master Constantinos Raptis. Our conversation took place at in November at the St James Bar of the Sofitel London St James Hotel – one of my favourite bars in London actually – and was followed by a tasting of head barman Matteo Giannuzzi’s Dragon’s Son cocktail with Metaxa 12 Stars as the key ingredient. It’s a rich mix definitely worth you seeking out for a sip. But what is Metaxa? It’s an old-aged spirit from the Greek island of Samos. For the fourth episode of tikichris Talks I share some highlights from my September visit to the tiny Polynesian country of the Cook Islands. The episode includes an interview I conducted with master carver Michael Tavioni at his Rarotonga studio, a hymn sung in the language of Cook Island Maori during Sunday morning service at the Cook Islands Christian Church in the village of Titikaveka and the sounds of traditional drumming from a performance at the popular Highland Paradise dinner show in the uplands of Rarotonga.
